Hotel Indigo Newark Downtown, Newark

The hotel is ideally located near the NJ Transit for easy access to Manhattan and within close proximity to the Prudential Center. The rooms were a pleasant change with great comfort, but the lack of insulation in corner room 402 made it really cold. The service was top-notch, with friendly and helpful staff who were professional and punctual. The dining experience offered good variety but seemed geared towards more expensive options, though the complimentary breakfast was satisfactory. The facilities were excellent overall.

My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. Despite the small room size, which was adequate, the constant hourly ringing of the church bell next door was annoying. The presence of two beds was a plus, but the room not being ready was a inconvenience. The service was indeed super nice, although I found the quality of the place and their employees lacking. While the location was not the most welcoming, being in the Ironbound district with a variety of bars and restaurants, including enticing Portuguese and Spanish options, was a good aspect. The proximity to Newark for business or events made it a convenient place to stay, and being close to NJPAC and the Prudential Center added to its appeal. Unfortunately, the need to request items like a refrigerator or microwave was a hassle, and the shower water not getting hot and running cold quickly was disappointing. On the bright side, being next to the Prudential Center, a bus stop, and a convenience store was convenient.

The hotel had contemporary rooms which were excellent; however, the noise from traffic, sirens, and cars all night was a drawback. The service was friendly but lacked follow-up even after expressing dissatisfaction. The location, though needing improvement in safety measures, felt fresh and suited my trip perfectly. The dining options should have been included for the price. Overall, a value-for-money stay with some room for enhancement.

I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious and well-equipped room that was conveniently located right in front of the elevator on the fourth floor. The cleanliness exceeded my expectations; however, the lack of refund due to short notice was disappointing. The rooftop bar and accommodating service were definite highlights of my stay.

On the bright side, after my initial room was subpar, I was promptly upgraded to a better suite. The hotel's location is ideal for easy access to Newark Liberty International Airport and Newark Penn Station. However, the area surrounding the hotel seemed a bit sketchy and may not be safe for solo female travelers at night.
